July 20th marked two remarkable milestones.
The Crawl: Today, Jeremy crawled!!! (Never mind that when Mommy Barbie left the message on Mama Nay's cell phone, Mama Nay thought the report was "He called!" Called what?) For a couple of weeks, Jeremy has been trying to get "over the knee," but has ended up either launching in an uncontrolled, spring-loaded action, or just collapsing on his tummy altogether. But, apparently he waited until he had a very enticing target to legitimately crawl after -- the dog's tail! At the most opportune moment, when Rizzo was unsuspecting, Jeremy "high-tailed" it over the knee and grabbed the wagging lure, and then skittled another six feet over to Mommy Barbie to celebrate!
The Compromise: Today, Mama Nay resigned the best job in the world so that she can be at home more with Jeremy. This blog has appropriately focused on Jeremy, but it should not go without saying that both of his mommies found their dream jobs several years back -- jobs that made them feel like they must have done the right things in prior lives. Fast forward to today, when Jeremy's mommies' priorities shift in significant ways, and they realize that those dream jobs -- as fortuitous as they are -- are just jobs. And that Jeremy deserves the most mommy-love that he can get. So, to cut to the chase, after a number of intervening events and conversations, Mama Nay makes the painful decision to leave said dream job in favor of another very respectable part-time job in order to be at home with Jeremy more often and more reliably. The pain, even though intense, is brief, because Mamy Nay is so deeply smitten with Jeremy that she can't help but bawl with happiness at knowing how "right" it is to spend every possible waking moment with him.
