A Flibberty Gibbet
How many of you have thought about flibberty gibbets, lately? Jeremy is right now, as he giggles at the nuns in the Sound of Music lamenting flighty young women like Maria. He hasn't watched this video in over a week. When I fired it up this evening and Julie Andrews first appeared, twirling on the hilltop, Jeremy jumped and shouted with glee. Oh joy!

Big Boy
The high chair sits pushed over against the wall gathering cobwebs and dust bunnies. High chairs are for babies. Jeremy sits at the table now.Jeremy reached another peak today. For months he has lamented his inability to climb up the face of the slides like the big kids. This afternoon at the park, he set his sights toward the top of the smallest 4-foot-tall slide, and after a couple of warm-up attempts, he did it! He climbed up to the top and flashed an ear to ear grin. Not to rest on his laurels, he immediately turned around, slid down the slide, and ran right past the medium slide and over to the tall slide. And climbed right up!

Fountains First!

Have I mentioned that Jeremy loves water? Jeremy loves this great fountain outside of Grandma Jean's home.
Yesterday, we took Jeremy to Fairytale Town, a fancy playground for toddlers here in town complete with castles, moats and three billy goats gruff. After securing our annual family pass guaranteeing us unlimited trips of fun, we ventured into the park. Despite the enthusiastic efforts of Mama and Mommy to direct and redirect Jeremy's attention on the giant Old Lady's Shoe, Sherwood's
Forest or the Crooked Mile, he was most fascinated with the fountains and the fences. He located every drinking fountain with his built-in plumbing detector. It didn't matter if they were hidden in the mouths of hippos, the cups of tulips or behind the bunny hutch, he found it. He also personally inspected all of the fences: the rope fences; the chicken mesh; the picket fences; and the hedges. He did like sliding down the rabbit hole, but most of the rest of the "attractions" didn't attract him. Fortunately, since we have an annual pass, there is plenty of time for him to either expand his horizons beyond the fences and fountains. Or not.
