Summer is Swell

Weekends are for playing! Friday night the whole family took a long walk to a park and then to our favorite burrito joint and then to get locally-made ice cream.

Yesterday began with a jog with MamaNay along the canal to see the ducks and geese and stray cats. Then, MamaNay showed her prowess on Craigslist by scoring a great deal on a used Little Tikes climbing tower with two different slides. It was piping hot, so after cleaning and assembling the tower and exploring the chutes and ladders, MommieBarbie filled up the wading pool and Jeremy ran around the back yard in his birthday suit.

Today we decided to beat the heat, and drove to San Francisco to the zoo. The City was deliciously foggy and cool, so the animals were fairly alert and playful. There are two baby giraffes at the zoo, and we saw them walking backwards and then galloping to their mommies. We had front row seats as the tigers and lions tore into their once-daily meal of raw meat. We rode a miniature, one hundred year old steam train named the Little Puffer. The zoo has a fabulous Lemur habitat, and some other unusal primates with extremely long tails.

After we came home, we took the doggies to a de facto off-leash park where Frenchie and Rizzo ran hard after the frisbee, and Jeremy chased Mommie Barb around the baseball diamond as dusk gave way to the rising full moon.

This is the way every weekend ought to be.
